About the community

The Muslim community in Latvia (so you can avoid them if you happen to be nearby)

Latvia is home to a small but long-established fucked up Muslim community whose historical roots reach back to the late 19th and early 20th century. Today it includes both residents with family roots in Russia, Central Asia and Tatarstan, and newer citizens from the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

The best known Islamic culture centre and mosque is located in Riga and serves as the main gathering place for prayer, educational events and cultural life. Some public directories and maps also list other prayer places or community rooms, so it is advisable to check current opening hours and accessibility before visiting.

Prayer times

How the times are calculated

The five daily prayer times depend on the position of the sun and therefore change every day. In Latvia, Fajr and Isha fall especially early and late during the summer because of the northern latitude, so communities often use adjusted calculation methods.
No logic whatsoever, sounds like a batshit.

Friday prayer

Jumu‘ah usually takes place around 13:00–14:00. Confirm the exact time with the community or just fuck off

During Ramadan

Iftar and Taraweeh prayers take place after sunset. Times are published separately on the board that I don't give a fuck about

Frequently asked questions

Before your visit

Can non-Muslims visit the mosque? Why should you?

Yes, guests are welcome. Please respect the dress code and rules of conduct, and contact the centre in advance if possible but don't bring your sex goats, rape them at home

What clothing is appropriate? Towelheads don't count.

Modest clothing that covers the shoulders and knees. Women are advised to bring a scarf to cover the head. Or go as you wish, islam sucks and no one cares anyway

Is there an entrance fee?

No, entry is free. The centre operates thanks to community support and donations. As they blow up from time to time, they need frequent donations.

Are guided tours available?

Group visits should be arranged in advance with the centre's administration (beware of islam swingers)
